With 7 Clients, Public Relations Veteran Launches New PR Firm Dedicated to EdTech
BOSTON, MA – March 8, 2016 – The booming education technology industry is gaining an important strategic resource with the launch of EdTech180, a public relations firm dedicated solely to serving the EdTech market. Founded by PR veteran Josef Blumenfeld, EdTech180 brings important specialization to an industry in need of communication resources and talent.
“It’s time for a new direction in EdTech communications,” founder Josef Blumenfeld explained. “EdTech companies have unique communication needs that are often not met by the PR industry. EdTech180 isn’t a technology PR shop trying to understand education; it’s not an education practice struggling to master technology. Serving the communication needs of the EdTech industry is our reason for existence.”
EdTech180 starts with 7 clients, representing important market validation.
Clients represented by EdTech180 include LearnLaunch, the Boston-based accelerator dedicated to expanding the EdTech ecosystem, along with three of its portfolio companies, including Authess and uConnect. Interactive math learning system LearnBop, Israel-based Contextors, and international educational organization Facing History and Ourselves, bring the total of clients at launch to six.
“EdTech companies need to tell their stories better,” Blumenfeld continued. “The market is producing education innovations that are effective and affordable, but that story isn’t breaking through. Ultimately, students are the ones paying the price for underperforming EdTech communications.”
Blumenfeld brings a unique blend of talent and experience to the launch of EdTech180, having held senior communication positions at education companies Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Cengage Learning, providing strong insight into the K-12 and Higher Education spaces. His previous experience supporting the communications of a host of technology companies, roles at leading global PR firms, and experience managing PR teams, programs, and agencies in 39 countries across the globe, combine to make him a strong resource for the EdTech industry.
